‘Tis the season for kissing – at least according to the playful team at Facemates.
For the next two days, the online dating site is sponsoring NYC’s largest mistletoe. From 8am to 10pm today and tomorrow, Madison Square Park will be festooned with two elegant mistletoe displays designed by premier florist, Michael George. The displays will be at the intersection where Broadway meets 5th Avenue at 23rd Street, in the pedestrian plaza.
What could be better than taking part in the holiday’s most amorous tradition? Puckering up for a worthy cause. For each couple that kisses under the mistletoe, Facemates will donate one dollar to Operation Smile (up to $20,000).
So head on over to NYC’s Flatiron District and happy smooching!

Over the years, through my work in TV news and as a blogger, I’ve had the chance to attend several red carpet events. Monday, for the first time, I was on the other side of the velvet rope — managing the media at Children of Chernobyl’s Children At Heart gala.
The annual event at NYC’s Chelsea Piers attracts more than 600 guests and supports CCOC’s work to rescue children from the contaminated regions of Chernobyl. To date, the group has rescued nearly 2,800 children on 95 missions.
More than 30 media outlets crammed onto the short red carpet, including of course many paparazzi photographers. As they jostled for space and one of them stalked off in a huff, I found myself thinking how happy I am to be on this side of the media fence now.
Rocking The Red Carpet: (from left) Elle Fanning, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones
It was no surprise the shutterbugs were out in full force — CCOC’s VIP lineup included Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones , Jon Voight and Elle Fanning. I was literally standing thisclose to the celebs as they chatted with crews from “Extra” and “Inside Edition.” I have to say Catherine is truly a knockout in person and the two make a striking pair. As for Elle, she had the doe-eyed look of a young star who hasn’t been spoiled by fame yet.
All Smiles After The Media Scrum: Andrea, Glenn and me
My colleagues Andrea and Glenn joined me in escorting a few select photogs into the dinner, where host Jon Voight kept things moving and video montages celebrated the work of both Douglases.
During a brief moment of quiet, one of the top-notch security guards and I shared a few laughs. Married, he admitted he knows far more great single women than men. He also assured me he would keep his eye open for me. After all, a single gal can never have too many potential matchmakers, right?
